Several hundred subscribers to the Democrat are greatly in arrears. Delinquents are urged to check the paper label and send the due amount promptly. The publishers appeal for checks money orders or cash to cover outstanding balances, stressing they need payments this week.

The attorney for W L Allan owner of the American House filed a petition for a rehearing before Judge Telford late Tuesday. The court granted the rehearing and set a new time for 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon March 3.
One of the township's best men, Geo. J. Hugus of Canoe Ridge, was thrown from a wagon while hauling ice from the N. C. station at Rossiter for Paul Miller. A cake of ice fell on his leg, breaking both leg bones near the ankle. He was taken to his Canoe Ridge home and treated by Dr. Fisher.
R B McCabe a retired West Penn yardmaster at Blairsville was honored by railroad friends with a handsome ebony cane featuring a solid gold engraved head. The presentation occurred Saturday evening at his Market street home and was described as a happy affair by Courter.
Judge White staged an annual show for local schoolchildren on Thursday night in honor of Washington's Birthday. The Duquessa Bureau of Entertainers provided the program, and the loud enthusiasm of the children suggested a bushel of fun and lively energy.
The Saltsburg mills will be removed this summer and consolidated with the Vandergrift plant. Despite weeks of committee efforts by Saltsburg’s Board of Trade, a company notice confirms no change in plans. The mill at Saltsburg will be dismantled once power and foundations are ready at Vandergrift.
The Normal School board approved W. J. Shaw of Pittsburg to prepare the boy's dormitory plans and the dining hall and Leonard recitation hall. The building will occupy the old site facing the campus, measure 45 by 150 feet, three stories, fire proof as possible, with fifty rooms heated by steam and lit by electricity. The directors aim to have bids ready from contractors soon.

Griffin of Williamsport were in town Friday and Sunday respectively. Katherine Uondon of Hollidaysburg visits the Youngs. Mrs. J. B. Younking leaves for Livermore. Arthur W. Wilson of Johnstown and his wife visited. W. J. Broadmeadow of Rossiter mines was in town. James B. Sansom of Pittsburgh visited the editor’s family. Dr. Charles M. St. Clair of Latrobe and John P. St. Clair of Homer City visited. P. A. Shiner of Pittsburgh in town this week. Dr. M. Rodkey of Spangler and Max Friedman of Barnesboro guests at the American House. Blanche Smith of Jeannette visited Indiana friends. Dr. and Mrs. John Brallier of Latrobe spent days there. George Fulton and wife of Wilmerding visited Fulton parents. Charles Sweeney and wife of Patton were here over Sunday. Clara Howells of McKeesport returned home. Charles B. Fink of Latrobe, recently ill, shows improvement visiting his daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Francis D. Glover of Pittsburgh stayed with Mrs. Glover’s parents for the Bachelor’s Ball.
Sunday night W Kase store at Creekside was robbed of clothing and shoes. Monday a suspect Italian wore new shoes found to match the loot. Deputy Wettling arrested two Italians, Morasco and an accomplice, after a struggle at Bianco House. Carney was cut. Morasco jailed. search ongoing for Soifin Siriano, a dark short man with freckles and early hair.

The Plumville railroad announces Train 218 runs daily except Sunday from Juneau Junction at 8 am, stopping at Juneau, Covode, McCormick, Plumville to Sagamore reaching 12:50 a.m. Train 214 runs daily except Sunday from Sagamore at 4 pm, via Plainville McCormick Covode Juneau Junction arriving 6 pm. KR and P officials and Buffalo Rochester Pittsburg reps visited yesterday on a special inspection train.
Announcement states the Miller Construction Company of Franklin won the contract to grade and extend the Pittsburg Shawmut Northern railroad along the Ohio Valley. The 20 mile stretch from Brockwayville to Buckville carries a about 750000 dollars value and includes deep cuts fills and several bridges.
Employees of the division freight offices in Pittsburgh surprised George D. Ogden as he left the division freight agency for a new role as assistant general freight agent in Philadelphia. Led by L. Seymour, they presented him with a handsome oil painting as thanks for years of service. Ogden expressed gratification at the recognition before leaving this week to assume his new duties.
The Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburg railroad orders four heavy Atlantic passenger locomotives and several freight engines from the American Locomotive Company at about 17000 each. Passenger cars are already contracted for this year, with freight cars not yet purchased. A spring freight rolling stock order is expected. Equipment is in good condition and well supplied.
General Manager W. W. Atterbury of the Pennsylvania Railroad orders every operating department employee to have an eye examination at least every five years. The measure targets men over forty five and may shift some workers to different duties if they fail the sight test. Officials insist the test is essential and will supplement existing eye checks. A large number of staff could be affected by reassignments or vacancies created by the changes.
On January 20 a reward was paid after the barrel of a Savage fifty Liberal was returned between Parkwood and Indiana. Daugharty's drug store received the reward.
Local items report the 1905 dog tax collected at $3,019 and damages paid at $3,161.03. Martha Caldwell sold property for $1,100 to T. A. Gilbert. a $100 share in The First National Bank of Dayton changed hands for $191, and Harvey Engle bought timber land in White township for $2,000 from F. A. Nichol. Rev. Jamison, aged 83, recovering health after illness.
A barn on the old Krouskope farm in White township owned by W. Ross Mahan was totally destroyed by fire last Wednesday around 2 am. No livestock were inside. the structure held over forty tons of hay and fodder. The damage is insured for $1,000, about one third of the loss, and the blaze is suspected arson.
The Savings Department offers four percent interest with no renewal, no lapse after start, and deposits can be opened with any amount. The rate is one third higher than standard three percent elsewhere, with assets over 1,250,000.00.

A large Indiana gathering of 34 Bachelor boys invited nearly 500 friends for a Washington's Birthday party at Library Hall. Supper for 316 preceded music by Kettering's Orchestra, with out of town guests listed from Latrobe Pittsburg Johnstown and Greensburg.
Recent deaths include Martha Maria Getty widow of Alexander Getty who died at her son Clarence Getty’s home in Johnstown at age 74 after a long illness. Also Sarah J Timblin 59 of Shelocta Pa died suddenly of apoplexy and Francesa Alethe Spicher infant of Arcadia died at one year four months. Wilse Neal of Barrel township aged about 50 died of Brights disease after ten months. Burial details and survivors noted.
