The past week saw multiple coal land transactions. D Blair Taylor Trustee and others acquired numerous tracts across Green and White townships, with prices ranging from about 1,620 to over 3 million dollars for large holdings. The Indiana House, owned by Mrs. Z. O Clements since 1869, was sold last week to Joseph Hines of Greep Ino and Williams J. Clawson, formerly of the Clawson House, for 25000. The new proprietors plan remodeling once possession is gained. Mr. John M. Dodagon retains a lease through November 30, 1903, potentially extending to April of the following year.
Executor W F Cannavan will publically sell at the home premises of Adam Carnahan deceased three miles northwest of Creekside on Wednesday March 4 1903 at 1 o clock. The estate offers a team of work horses a two year old bull a cow a champion thresher three binders one wagon two sets work harness one buggy hay and straw by the ton wheat and buckwheat by the bushel blacksmith and carpenter tools and other items.
Clarence Carney hired a horse and buggy from Williams' Livery stable Sunday morning with a young lady named Metz. He said he was going to Marian Cantor, in Kellysburg he asked for the road to Winslow below Punxutawney and has not been heard from since. Carney is married and has a tarnished reputation.
A quarrel in Wehram on Saturday left several Italians involved. One drew a revolver and shot another in the arm and shoulder blade. The shooter was arrested and jailed locally awaiting the victims’ medical outcome.

Saturday evening the annual event by Judge White delighted school children. He invited two gentlemen and a lady from Philadelphia to perform Pune & Judy Marionettes tricks and ventriloquism. The hall overflowed with eager youngsters as Judge White gave a cheerful talk before the show.
Students at the Normal held the annual Martha Washington party under the senior class auspices. A grand march led by senior leaders preceded dancing that lasted until midnight with visitors from Pittsburg, Johnstown, and nearby areas adding to the festive atmosphere.

A Thursday shipment to J M Cunningham and J M Gompers featured a large consignment of farm horses. No western or sick stock were present. With strong demand, they plan to travel Monday to Ohio to secure another crate of work horses weighing 1200 to 1400 pounds for public auction upon arrival.
A group of distinguished railroad guests from Panxsntawney arrived Tuesday to ride the 4:20 pm train to Pittsburg and observe the work along the line. The party included Adramn Iselin A Yates Lucing W Robinson J M Floech and Alexander Patton contractor for the bulk of the construction.

Tosaph Andre, aged about 76, died of paresis. Mrs. Henry Protham, about 60, died of cancer in Philadelphia. Mrs. Joseph J. Sansom of Harrisburg died of cancer, leaving seven children. John Woblwend, Brackenridge’s long-time businessman, died after months of illness. Mrs Mary Short of Bitont died of paralysis after pneumonia. Mrs. Orr Lawson of West Liberty, Iowa, died in early February, age about 64, widow of Dr. Marshall’s daughter. Archibald Matthews Rodgers, near New Florence, died after a long life, survived by wife and children. James B. Bell of Apollo died, funeral at Oakland Cemetery. William Bowman near Saliburg died aged 67, of consumption, survived by a large family including several named relatives. Several more notices note survivors and family connections across Blairsville, Nowrytown, and McKee’s Rocks.
