Leechburg councilman Harry W. Beale died after being struck by a railroad engine on Friday afternoon. He was 38, husband to a wife and father of three. He was the son of Major Joseph B. Beale, a three time congressional candidate in the district.

Peculiar Disease at Seward Quarantines Issued
Six patients in Seward, mainly children and young adults, suffer a peculiar eczema like illness resembling smallpox. Dr Hammers, Westmoreland quarantine officer, declares the disease, quarantining the homes. The illness matches a similar outbreak near Cramer a year ago, diagnosed by Dr Bat, state quarantine officer, and Johnstown doctors including City Physician Kring as smallpox.

Brutal Austrian Mine Murder Shocks Conemanagh
In Conemanagh mines this county a brutal murder occurred Sunday afternoon as Steve Yorisa killed Wilipe Purey with a coat pick. Both men are Austrians employed in the mines. Coroner M. M. Davis conducted an inquest Monday, revealing heavy drinking and a solitary room confrontation. Purey died about five hours after the assault. Yorisa confessed, was jailed in Saltzburg, and held for court after a Salisbury hearing. Purey, twenty five, single, had been in the U S five years. Yorisa, twenty one, with limited English.

Fatalities at West Penn foundry Avonmore
Two workers died in the West Penn foundry at Avonmore last week. Ira Wagle aged eighteen was pulled into a fast moving pulley while adjusting a belt on Monday January 80. His father had died two weeks earlier. Paul Schonenbage was killed Wednesday evening while lifting a roll as a derrick swung, striking him on the head. He was married. his wife was in the old country.

Fifty Years Ago In Rochester Mills Deer Winter Recalled
Jacob Tiger of Rochester Mills visited Indianapolis on Friday and renewed his subscription. He spoke of a winter fifty years ago as severe as the present, noting deer perished under five to eight feet of snow in Canoe township. He recalled seeing a buck and a doe taken alive after a heavy snowstorm.

Miner Daniel Lewis Dead After Coal Bank Fall
Daniel Lewis, a 36 year old coal miner, was killed Monday afternoon by a slate fall at the Markie coal bank in White township. His breast was crushed and he died within minutes. The funeral is planned for this Wednesday afternoon.
