William H. Kennedy of 465 Westford Street says a luminous comet appeared last Sunday night near Middlesex Street and Branch. The object moved southward, shone like an electric light, then dimmed to a reddish orange and vanished after about half an hour. Kennedy linked the sighting to a sick woman’s predicted omen from the previous night. An aerolite reportedly fell in New Bedford nearby, possibly Kennedy's comet, observed by a woman about 3 am.
