Regulations on Hog Cholera Serum Controls
The Secretary of Agriculture issued Amendment 1 to B. A. I. Order 196 regulating interstate shipments and handling of hog cholera virus and anti hog cholera serum. It bans bringing diseased animals onto licensed premises and requires licensed establishments to follow prescribed methods. Licensing, testing, and record keeping are mandated, with penalties for noncompliance and limited federal inspection. Hog cholera remains widespread in Indiana with Indianapolis markets as a disease hotbed.
