Recollections of Cherokee newspaper making in 1828

The Cherokees in 1827-28 formed a national council to publish a Cherokee alphabet printed by Samuel Worcester and a Cherokee newspaper. Harris, a printer, and the narrator journeyed to New Echota to establish the paper, riding from Jasper to Huntsville. They faced language barriers, used a sled galley and hand press, and printed limited Cherokee columns weekly as translation from English proved slow.
