Bruton Lawsuit Warns Bruton to Answer in 30 Days

Prisoner releases rise as civil cases grow in court

Special Reporter notes since the last issue that 30 prisoners were freed under the Poor Convict Act from October 1 to the morning of the 18th as civil business in Commissioner Jack son s court increases. The piece lists defendants including Mike Quinn for assault with intent to rape Henry Freeman for carrying a weapon Jack Scales for disturbing religious worship Benj Graham for assault and battery Alex Hunt for introducing Anderson Beharan and John Vergent for gaming George Miller for gaming. Judge Wayman Jackson, popular U S court commissioner, reports a busy tenure having tried 76 civil cases and numerous criminal matters.

Wedding Bells in Muskogee Honor Mr Walter Fears and Miss Edna Carter

The October 17 1893 wedding at Muskogee Methodist Church joined Walter T Fears and Edna Carter in a formal ceremony led by Rev Theo F Brower and Rev M L Butler. The couple, both well regarded, were praised for character and prospects as guests filled the church. A reception at the Crabtree home followed with abundant refreshments and socializing.
