LAPD stands firm on high speed pursuits after boy's death
LAPD will not change policy on high speed pursuits despite the death of a boy struck in a market parking lot during a chase. Assistant Chief Davyl Gates cited 37 accidents in 786 pursuits last year and argued pursuits are initiated by those fleeing. The driver, David Ramirez, 21, is being investigated for manslaughter. The incident began when a speeding vehicle was seen on Laurel Canyon Boulevard and continued to Van Nuys Boulevard.

Transient Faces Trial in Attacks on Airline Workers
A 2 year old transient, Arthur Ray Williams, was ordered to stand trial in Los Angeles Superior Court on 10 felony counts for attacks on seven airline employees.
