Shaped shackle to Smithsonian: prairie house spared
Pat Murray sold 120 acres southwest of Chicago to a subdivision developer. An architecture student and Professor Sprague alerted the Smithsonian, which disassembled the early prairie house and will reconstruct it at the museum in February as a demonstration of farm architecture. The Hart House in Ipswich will stand beside it. The Hall family, owners before, lived with horses and timber homes prior to indoor plumbing.
