Redman Triumphs as Brise and Andretti Suffer Breakdowns

Andretti set track speed but a late gear miscue in heat one and Brise failure in the main altered the lead. Redman inherited the title after Brise and Unser faltered, finishing 29.946 seconds ahead of Schuppan with Wietzel third and McRae/Follmer among early spins. Redman clinched the Formula 5000 season with 195 points, two races remain at Laguna Seca and Riverside.
