Vitamin C drinks may blunt colds say Florida study
University of Florida physician reports that daily orange juice helped volunteers resist or lessen cold symptoms when begun a week before exposure. In a 24-subject trial, 15 ounces daily reduced sniffles and cough in juice drinkers started before virus exposure, though the study notes possible psychological effects and questions what in the juice causes the benefit. A follow up study is planned comparing real juice with a placebo-like drink.
