World’s safest Grand Prix course built in Long Beach
Talbot, a leading authority on race track safety, led the Long Beach Grand Prix to transform city streets into a high speed circuit. Construction wrapped four days before the race with 1800 reinforced concrete barriers and a debris fence to contain cars. Tire piles and Armco style barriers provide alternate protection, backed by a four year SCGA data study.

Long Beach Rand Prix costs to be paid by LBGPA funds
Answers from page 21 show officials stating security duty costs will be covered by the Long Beach rand Prix Association. The city will not bear new taxpayer expenses as the LBGPA pays for police and fire overtime and street modifications, with $406,000 already planned for 1976 and 1917, plus rents of $40,000 for this race and escalating amounts in future years.
