Nine Juveniles Plotted Sears Extortion Scheme
Nine boys aged 10 to 14 in Dyersburg Tennessee devised an extortion plan against Sears Roebuck, demanding rifles, farm equipment, and radios via a two pound parcel with 100 pages torn from a catalog. The scheme collapsed when only a 10 cent stamp was used, and all youths were released to their parents.
