Growers warned to heed rules across California farms
State farm labor officials warned growers they face court action if they block union organizers from entering fields for talks with workers. The Agriculture Labor Relations Board said it would seek injunctions and could cite contempt for violations. An access rule allows union organizers in the fields an hour before and after work and at lunch. Meanwhile the United Farm Workers Union won uncontested elections to represent 7,844 to 7,940 farm workers in the San Joaquin Valley, widening its edge over Teamsters as 16 elections with 16,583 voters faced ballot challenges.
