Jail Deputy Burglar Drama Ends With Surrender
Orange County Sheriff deputy Frederick Irvine 40 of La Habra held officers at bay for five hours after a predawn burglary near Mission Viejo. Irvine fired five shots into the air and threatened suicide before surrendering at 11 a.m. Also arrested was deputy Arthur Duncan 34 of Huntington Beach after an earlier Mission Viejo arrest as they guards at a club restored. A haul of liquor golf clubs and gear valued under 1000 dollars was recovered.

Fourth LA quake of month measured 2.8 on Richter scale
