NATO Fleet Crippled by Imagined Atom Bombs During Exercise
London reports a lone enemy plane broke through NATO defenses during the exercise off Europe, supposedly destroying part of the striking force. The Queen Elizabeth liner, heading to New York, was allegedly torpedoed and sunk by the French submarine Rolland Morillot, while Grange force bombers attacked the fleet. Rear Adm. Arnold said 10 attackers were shot down, with one survivor penetrating inner defenses to complete a mission.
