Ship Blames Army Dredge for Collision
In San Francisco the Thor Dahls and Hval fanger Seiskapp asked a federal court to limit liability after the Sept 10 collision near Coos Bay Oregon with the Army dredge Ressel. They say General Steamship valued the vessel at 1 050 076 and note the government filed a 1.5 million suit alleging the Thor caused the sinking of the Rossell. The Thor owners deny liability and contend the Rossell was to blame after being advised by the Coos Bay Pilot Commission that the Thor shall was outbound and asked the Rossell to lay to outside the channel.
