Polio Victim in Long Beach Urges Immunization Drive
Donald Francis Grenier, a 31 year old Ford assembler, is among Long Beach polio cases. He contracted paralytic polio after not receiving the Salk vaccine. A 24 year old Long Beach man previously thought the vaccine was only for children. Grenier, ill since September, is confined to a hospital and joined a March of Dimes appeal. Ten polio cases have been reported regionally, with one death.

Riverside youth pleads guilty in brutal Riverside murders
A 17 year old male, Karl Gentry, pleads guilty to murder in the stabbing deaths of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Duvel in Riverside. Long Beach State College plans a new fine arts classroom unit with a three story main building a two story wing and a separate two story structure.
