Paramount teachers reject strike ends first day of fall term
Paramount Unified School District teachers voted 178 to 107 to reject a strike, accepting the district contract after a 5.3 percent raise plus 2.4 percent increments instead of the requested 8 percent. Anne McCuistion led TAP, noting no loss for teachers and promising ongoing negotiations. Berkeley, Berryessa, San Jose and other districts reported mixed strike statuses and wage talks as classrooms reopened.
