Half of Vietnam War Deaths Linked to Booby Traps
Pentagon sources say up to half of the 43,000 U.S. deaths in Vietnam may be caused by booby traps and mines. Official estimates are lower, but records are imprecise. The breakdown cites 17,000 by small arms, 8,000 by fragmentation from mortars and artillery, 3,000 in crashes, and 6,590 from mines, booby traps, and grenades.
