Smog Alert Issued In Los Angeles Basin Weather Update
A first stage smog alert was issued for the East San Gabriel Valley and Pomona Walnut Valley as ozone levels reached .22 and .21 ppm for an hour respectively. The alert urged inactivity for children and those with respiratory issues, urged motorists to limit driving, and banned open fires. The warning ended after the ozone fell below 0.20 ppm.

Redondo Beach Man Slain in Lawndale Bar
A 35 year old Redondo Beach man Kenneth Draper was shot in the head during a violent argument at Patty's Pad in Lawndale. The shooting occurred at 9 15 p m Saturday in a crowded bar with Kenneth Draper later identified as the deceased. Mark Buyers a 25 year old resident nearby was booked for the incident.
