Solons Reconvene on Labor Day Vetoes and Burns Case
Lawmakers gathered in the Capitol on Labor Day amid renewed talks of veto overrides after Reagan’s long absence. The Assembly and Senate, with 69 and 37 members present respectively, weighed potential moves to override the Governor’s 83 vetoes. Milton Marks’s victory created a 2-2 Senate tie, raising talk of possible Burns ouster, though Democrats stood behind Burns and a GOP split seemed unlikely.
