Murder Verdict In Bar Holdup Slayings
William W. McClellan of El Monte was found guilty Thursday of first degree murder in the February 16 Gaslight bar holdup in Stanton that killed James Seagris of Stanton and Joseph Gray of Huntington Beach. He faces the death penalty or life in Santa Ana Superior Court next Tuesday after jurors weigh the two murders. Prosecutor James Enright seeks the death penalty. co‑defendant Wayne McFarland, 21, admitted involvement.

From a field of 45 applicants, Orange County's first administrator race was narrowed to three by county supervisors. The finalists, two from Southern California and one from Central California, will undergo further written and oral examinations before a final selection in about three weeks. Youth, 19, Killed in Highway 101 Crash near Paso Robles
William David Lynch, 19, of 4828 Eastbrook Ave Lakewood died in a Paso Robles hospital from injuries after his car overturned on Highway 101. CHP said the northbound crash occurred about 6:30 am Wednesday when the vehicle drifted into a divider and overturned. Lynch, a St Anthony’s High School graduate and University of San Francisco student, survived by his mother Mary Lynch, a brother Robert, and sister Doree. Rosary tonight at 7 and requiem mass Saturday at 9 at St Cyprian’s Church Luydben Family Mortuary directing.

A post mortem released Thursday ties Cheryl Ann Raby 20 of 94 E Market St to a predawn intruder who fatally injured her in a North Long Beach apartment. Detectives, tight lipped after re questioning neighbors, note a sharp object caused the wounds in the early morning hours as a front window screen was removed and a door accessed. Raby, a Jordan High School graduate, was found by friend Mary Lou DeHeck 19 who arrived after work to check on her.

A Long Beach couple was awarded 42 116 in Superior Court after being struck by a car while crossing Pacific Coast Highway at Lemon Avenue in a marked crosswalk on March 7 1965. William H Blow and Margaret Virginia Blow received 10 000 in special damages and 20 000 in general damages for him plus 4 616 in special damages and 7 500 in general damages for her.
