California scientists near using sunlight to make foods
Two California researchers Dr. James A. Bassham and Dr. R G Jensen report a major step toward producing nourishing foods from sunlight. They isolated chloroplasts and the carbon cycle to show photosynthesis can occur outside living cells, enabling potential manipulation of energy capture and protein production.
