Geologist fakes death to escape unhappy life
Philip M Blacet 34 disappeared last November from Palo Alto leaving a $26 000 job with the U S Geological Survey and a wife and two children. He reappeared in Eloy Arizona living with a waitress and working as a cotton picker saying he was unhappy with his home life and the materialistic world he inhabited. The incident began after he injured his thumb and staged a bloodied van abandonment on an Indian reservation. Police said no charges were filed. Blacet plans to return to geology but now values simpler work skills.
