Admiral counseled for favor in Pentagon probe
Washington AP A Navy admiral involved in the Pentagon influence inquiry was counseled for using Northrop facilities in 1971 74 along with eight other Navy officers and 28 officers from other services. The counselor was Admiral James L Holloway III, head of naval operations. In a separate filing the 5th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans found Atlanta desegregation efforts failing due to white flight and shifting demographics from 1958 to the present.

Senators push to maintain defense spending cuts in budget talks
Senate Budget Committee leaders Muskie and Bellmon urged McClellan to keep defense funding within budget targets, opposing restoring $2.6 billion of House cuts to Ford's request. They argue national defense totals exceed guidelines, and further reductions may be needed in three House bills especially through foreign military credits and pay raises.
