Ford tax cut plan blamed for hurting poor and aiding rich
A group of liberal House Democrats charged that President Ford hid figures showing his 28 billion dollar tax and spending cut would raise taxes for low income families while cutting taxes for higher earners. They say a family of four earning 5000 would pay 300 more, a family of four earning 50000 would save 390, and the effect extends to eight thousand dollars income for six person families. They also accuse the administration of excluding 1.1 billion in earned income credit refunds from 1975 calculations and concealing details in Treasury footnotes.
