Head of Alamitos Air Base to Retire
Wall rear admiral (retired) Cap. Cb Westhotes to relinquish command of Los Alamitos Naval Air Station after 29 years. He will be succeeded by Cam. RB Buchan of Miramar NAS. Westhotes expanded the Los Alamitos Air Reserve program and helped launch the new air crew training effort. He studied at Marquette University and Naval Academy, joined fighter and patrol squadrons, and held posts including chief of staff Carrier Division 1 and officer at the Frank D. Roosevelt. He and wife Jean plan ranching life after retirement.
