Solar proposals eyed for heating the White House
The Carter administration weighs solar heating for the White House with options from 50 000 to 500 000 dollars. Proposals aim to provide 20 to 80 percent of heating and up to 80 percent of domestic hot water. Feasibility studies note disruption, space and security impacts, plus the building’s historic appearance. Energy Secretary James Schlesinger is said to favor the idea.
