Col. Charles W. Howe, former commander of the 315th Air Division, predicted that air transport will revolutionize Southeast Asia within 20 years. Speaking at a California State Air Force Association convention in Long Beach, he noted poor roads and rails and said air service could be cheaper in many regions. The 315th flew supplies to Vietnam from 1965 to 1968, and Howe said airlift now carries almost everything to remote areas.
