Proposition A would allow city to contract health services
Long Beach voters are asked to approve Proposition A on the November ballot to empower the city to contract with the county or other governments for health services. The plan would pay the city back 5 cents on the tax rate up to about 380000 annually if the county performs the services. officials say the city would supervise and the health officer would implement provisions under state law. County supervisors support and the move aims to keep standards high while addressing concerns over funding and local control.
