A senior officer recounts the three tier tunnel system used by the Viet Cong near Cu Chi. Fighters dug for decades, living underground with hospitals and even water buffalo, while Americans advanced and countered with dogs, tunnel rats, and finally heavy bombing.
Miriam Ann Jackson of South Charleston says she authored hundreds of care packages for Vietnam era servicemen. Since 1968 she mailed more than 2,500 letters and sent 3,000 dozen cakes and cookies spending about $7,000 to 562 men, including 350 from West Virginia. Her notes bore the sign off Aunt Miriam.
