Seven Leftists Given Sentences in San Marino Coup
Seven Communist and Socialist leaders who tried to overthrow San Marino’s government were sentenced Thursday to 5 to 15 years in prison. Another 14 participants were fined. Regents Giordano Giacomini and Primo Maran, each a lead figure, received 15-year terms. The trial spanned a year and followed a leftist bid to disband parliament after a 12-year note ended by Christian Democrats.
