Kissinger Sued by Kin Over Chilean Executed American
The widow and parents of Charles Horman sue Henry Kissinger and 10 others for 4.5 million dollars in U.S. District Court. They accuse Kissinger and officials of involvement in planning the 1973 coup and the arrest and execution of Horman in Chile. The suit names former ambassador Nathaniel Davis and consul Frederick Purdy among others. Horman, a 31 year old writer active in civil rights, was executed September 20, 1973, after the junta overthrew Salvador Allende. The plaintiffs seek 3.5 million for the widow and 500 thousand each for the parents.
