Lodge Raps Kennedy and Johnson for Failing to Get Civil Rights Law
Portland report says Henry Cabot Lodge attacked Democratic leaders Kennedy and Johnson for not delivering civil rights legislation in the special summer sessions. He argued the Democratic civil rights program is a non program and accused them of vacillating between North and South positions. Lodge criticized the leadership and noted international disappointment at UN talks with African and Asian nations. He spoke at Corvallis and Oregon State College amid a civic rally, declining to name UN representatives who discussed the issue.
