Volkswagen of America reports no fatalities in 18 months of Rabbits with the passive restraint system, with 51 000 cars on the road as of July 1978. In 39 accidents, 12 were major. 18 occupants in major crashes included one life threatening injury, but no serious or critical injuries occurred. 4 minor injuries and 25 unharmed.
