Congregation Marks 20 Years With Anniversary Event
The North Long Beach Brethren Church celebrates twenty years of growth from 235 members and 250 in Sunday School to 1457 members and about 1600 in Sunday School with a strong youth program. A second anniversary reception and a surprise gift for Dr. George Peek and Mabel Peek follow Sunday evening services at 7 o clock. Dr Peek, born in Albuquerque and raised in California, joined the Long Beach police before leaving in 1943 to study at Biola College and Talbot Seminary. He later led Seal Beach Brethren for five years and returned home to share his faith and experiences. His message centers on four points: the Bible as God's Word, one triune God, Jesus Christ’s virgin birth, crucifixion, resurrection, ascension, and return, and the necessity of spiritual birth through faith in Christ.

Rich church events fill Long Beach weekend calendar
The Long Beach area hosts a diverse slate of religious programs including the Theo netics symposium at the Edgewater Inn and Marina Hotel on Oct 25–26 featuring experts from national churches. An interreligious Institute on Oct 21 brings leaders from Christian and Jewish groups. Biola College reports a record 1325 students with hundreds admitted or turned away.

Sings Too Little Albie to Tell Rally of Life
LA Angels star Albie Pearson, former AL Rookie of the Year, will headline the Dave Wilkerson Youth Rally at Melodyland Theater next Monday at 7 30 p m. He will sing and share his life story while discussing faith and service to juveniles and addicts. The free program features The Accents The New Dimensions and Evie Wilson with an audience of 3500.

Gideons Convention Planned at Edgewater Inn October
The Gideons of California and Nevada will hold their convention from Wednesday through Sunday October 13 at the Edgewater Inn Marina Hotel. The Christian business and professional men's association is known for placing Bibles in hotels and hospitals and distributing them to military personnel and students. About 350 are expected to attend with talks in local churches Sunday explaining their work and outcomes.
