Victim Identified in Hollywood Strangler Case Trail

The 11th female victim in the Los Angeles area stranglings is identified as Jane Evelyn King of West Los Angeles. Her nude body was found along the Golden State Freeway near Griffith Park, last seen Nov. 9 leaving the Church of Scientology Celebrity Center. Police link her death to the Stop and Go Strangler, as others previously found dead in Glendale and LA.

Long Beach Tops Nations Heat On Thanksgiving Day

Long Beach reported the nation’s hottest Thanksgiving as Santa Ana conditions pushed temperatures high. 3,000 sun worshippers filled beaches from Malibu to Newport while 300,000 visitors flocked to coastal areas. Mountain resorts saw near capacity crowds and Mammoth Lake overflowed though shore traffic was lighter than expected. Northern California enjoyed its first two feet of powder in three years.

Random car surrenders urged for onroad smog tests in California

Southern California drivers are being asked at random to temporarily surrender vehicles for onroad smog center tests. The Air Resources Board will lend cars to volunteers and take no action against owners unless tampering is proven. About 40 vehicles from 1988 to 1997 models are needed for a yearlong road test to assess emissions systems and guide improvements.
