Indicted in Bilks on Insurance Fraud Case

Sixteen defendants including two physicians and a Beverly Hills attorney were indicted by the County Grand Jury on insurance fraud charges. Prosecutors say they defrauded insurers of about 125000 by claiming nonexisting injuries and padding medical bills beyond proper settlements. About 500000 in further claims are pending. Defendants include Dr Everett DeLong of Santa Monica, Dr John Perry of Los Angeles, and HL Edward Scogin, with two pharmacists among others.

Three Small Quakes Reported Near Bay Area

Three minor earthquakes were recorded in Central California, with the first at 4 45 am near Los Gatos in northern Santa Cruz County measuring 3 2 on the Richter scale. A second quake at 11 25 am hit near Danville in Contra Costa County registering 2 6. A third possible aftershock near Los Gatos at 4 45 am was logged at 4 30 am with a 2 1 reading.
