Father and son share 54 years as postal carriers
Myron J. Strugeon and his father, both longtime U S Post Office carriers, total 54 years in service with the elder living in Long Beach and the son in Stanton. In January the father will install the son as president of Branch 945 of the National Association of Letter Carriers AFL CIO. The son, 43, was elected to the 612 member local post last Tuesday and works from Pacific Station in Long Beach. He urges reform to professionalize the service and improve career paths, bargaining power, and management. Local carriers anticipate a Christmas mail rush with overtime and minimal hiring of part time clerks.
