Secrecy in Cleaver Trial Talk

Oakland judge imposes gag order to curb public discussion of the Eldridge Cleaver assault case. The order mirrors the Sirhan Sirhan proceedings and targets attorneys, officials, jurors, and deputies. Cleaver and five others face charges linked to an April 6 shootout with police, a Panther death, and Cleaver's injuries. The judge postponed a hearing on a motion to dismiss for grand jury discrimination and set a next session. He urged media to observe the spirit of the order.
