Why go to church in a poet’s pidgin voice
The piece questions church attendance through a Kim named speaker and a suggestive tale of a brother’s drunkenness, hypocrisy, and the clash between ideal moral life and flawed human behavior within a churchgoing setting. It contrasts saints and sinners with the ordinary middle, noting lip service and outside hypocrisy in a corrupt lawyer turned politician.

The piece muses on church as a community that seeks dignity and unity amid social divides then shifts to a Church of the Brethren stance on handgun abolition and registration. It cites Rev. C Wayne Zunkel campaigning in Congress and cites statistics on handgun murder and accidents. It closes with a TR quote and a biblical proverb on reputation.
