Weinberger Says Reagan Budget Can be Balanced
California Finance Director Caspar Weinberger told reporters that Reagan's $6.2 billion fiscal plan can be balanced with little slack. He noted changes including a $32.5 million rise in costs for impacted areas and a $28.7 million hit from home owners tax relief, while the June 30 surplus rose to $250.4 million. Democratic leaders pressed for $86 million in cuts before supporting the budget.
