Lost pilot walks wrong way to death on Baja plateau
Sam Spry, 19, of Mesa College, vanished after a May 13 flight from San Diego went off course. Found dead on a desolate 2000 foot plateau 260 miles south near the Pacific. Searchers say exposure and lack of water likely caused death after an 30 to 40 mile inland hike from the coast.
