Study finds Hispanic students lag in tests overall
The national appraisal shows Spanish heritage students score substantially lower than Anglos in most subjects, but still above Blacks on average. It covers ages 9, 13, and 17 tested from 1971 to 1975, with data from science, math, reading, social studies, and job skills. The report, from the Education Commission of the States, notes many schools do not meet the needs of homes where Spanish is not the native tongue.
