Viking Mars photo released by NASA boosts space hopes
Denver AP Viking I sent back first Mars image from seven million miles away showing the south pole and bluish cloud cover. Dr. Gerald Soffen said history may be made in coming months as Viking missions J and HE proceed healthily toward orbit and a July 4 landing craft release.
