California population to grow slowly next year
California is projected to keep slow population growth. The Department of Finance estimates 20,287,000 residents by July 1, up 1.1 percent from last year, with 20,472,000 by July 1972 up 1.2 percent. The small rise reflects lower immigration and a drop in net civilian migration from a 1963 peak of 356,000 to 27,000 in 1970.
