John W. Reed, 20, convicted of first degree murder in the death of Donald Hartman, a Redondo Beach service station manager, shot by a deputy as Reed attempted to force Hartman into a car during a Hawthorne area robbery. Reed also convicted of kidnapping and armed robbery. sentence to be set June 40 by Judge Newell Barrett.
