Suspect faces trial in sword cane death in California
A 36 year old Long Beach man Morris Ray Price was bound over for trial on a murder charge after a two day preliminary hearing. He allegedly stabbed 52 year old Harold G Lane with a sword cane during a marital dispute intervention. Lane died April 25 after collapsing from a heart wound. Witnesses said Lane helped Prices wife Laura and their two daughters as events unfolded.

Not guilty plea in gun case linked to Lakewood activist
Jackson A. Adkins 40 of 11868 E 205th St pleaded not guilty to assault with a deadly weapon in a May 9 shooting. A preliminary hearing was set for May 27 before Judge Roberta Butzbach at Los Cerritos Municipal Court Bellflower. Deputy reports say Adkins fired at Darryl A. Baca 13 after a dispute over right of way. Baca was struck in the left shoulder and later released from Gardens Hospital. Adkins posted 3000 bail.
