Help for Children of Divorce Starts Counseling Program
A Los Angeles partnership between the Conciliation Court and the Council of Jewish Women's Child Youth and Family Counseling launched a program to counsel children at the time of parental separation. Caseworkers aim to identify problem-prone youngsters early and refer families to supportive services to prevent later difficulties. The initiative, evaluation planned for this summer, operates as crisis counseling with 1-6 sessions and emphasizes parental involvement over direct ongoing treatment for children.
